Happy Anniversary!

One whole year of MikeDonovan.com as of October 20th 2004!

We've been going strong for a whole year of daily ( except Sunday's ) comics. In order to commemerate this milestone, we thought we would treat you, the reader with a look back at some of the highlights of our first year, some bloopers that made it to the final cut ( sorry MyComicsPage ) and some rejected comics not fit for print.

Right as the MikeDonovan.com comic launched on Ucomics website, we were approached to do a crossover with Shoecabbage. Along with some other big names in the comic business, Mike showed up. So, that was pretty cool.

Along the way, MikeDonovan.com picked up some friends who can be found on our LINKS page. These are great artists with great comics who have enjoyed this comic this year.

Bloopers
We like to point out the bloopers in our newsletter, but here are some of the ones that got by our highly regimented editorial process.

The second panel words were messed up. The "I" shouldn't be there. It was a last minute re-write of the joke that led to this embarrassing mishap! ( ok, it's not that bad. )

In this crazy comic a clown appears at the end when I was speaking to an older gentleman. How did that clown get in there?!?! We need editors with eye sight!

This comic was going well, but look what the dog says as the video tape still rolls. The brutally honest Great Dane has some choice words for Mike! Needless to say we never used his services again.

To Hot for Print

We've had some comics that have been too racy to actually make it to print. We're not really proud to bring them to you here... but we will anyway!

This comic started out on the cutting room floor and never quite made it past that. We thought if we could get one girl in the world to approve it, we could run it. We never got any womans approval, so it never made it. Violence against women is wrong. Wrong!

Behind the Scenes

Here's a clip from behind the scenes that not too many people get to see.

So, now you know what it's like to work with Mike. If you want to call it work, all he does is stand there.

We hope you enjoyed this look back and we hope you are looking forward to another year of MikeDonovan.com, we know we are. Thanks for reading.
