Serving the Scuba Divers and Snorkelers of Cape Cod Diver Stress & RescueSSI's Diver Stress and Rescue is the next recommended course in the continuing education system after the initial certification. This course helps you gain confidence and makes you a better buddy. You will learn the signs of stress and how to deal with the stress in yourself and others before, during, and after the dive. Also, you will learn about the different personality types and the common actions of each type in different stressful situations. SKILLSYou will learn the skills and techniques to help you and other divers prevent and overcome common stressors associated with diving. You will learn self aid and buddy aid skills for potentially stressful and/or rescue situations. We will "re-live" some of the skills you learned in the Open Water Course such as Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascents, Buddy Tows, etc. eQUIPMENTYou will learn how your equipment can help you to stay relaxed and enjoy every dive. What equipment is required in various rescue situations and how to use that equipment. The Dive Locker sets its Rescue class up over a single weekend. You will need to pick up the Student Kit at least a week ahead of time in order to complete the homework and prepare for the exam. On Friday nights, we will hold the academic session #1 and, if every student is ready, administer the test. Saturday morning is water session #1. This is an extensive couple of hours at Hathaway Pond, conducting a minimum of 7 complete rescues with each having at least 2 different scenarios. You will learn how to keep track of your buddy, how to rescue them if the situation arises, and the "entire rescue scene". On Sunday we put everything you've learned, academics, skills, evaluations, etc. to the test, in a "close to reality" rescue situation. This course is challenging but loads of fun. Cost: $225.00 |
